فى قصر بباطن الجبل تجمعت عائلة المرحوم الثرى فريد عمر سلطح بابا الذى أوصى بكل ثروته لعائلته بالتساوى بشرط بقاءهم فى القصر لمدة شهر ليتعارفوا ويتقاربوا وهم منيره هانم (ميمى...اقرأ المزيد شكيب) إبنة شقيق المرحوم وإبنها الشاب شريف (كمال الشناوى) وجميلة هانم (جراسيا قاصين) إبنة عم المرحوم وإبنها حسن (عبد الفتاح القصرى) وإبنته الشابة عزيزه (ثريا حلمى)ومرسى قلب الأسد (اسماعيل ياسين)صائد الوحوش وإبن عديله اخت المرحوم. وقد تلى مراد أفندى (سراج منير)الوصية على جميع الحضور. كان مراد أفندى يود الانفراد بالثروة، فحاول بكل الطرق إبعاد الورثه عن القصر، وعدم بقاءهم لمدة شهر مستغلا عصابته فى إرهاب الجميع،والإدعاء أن بالمنطقة وحوش كثيرة وغوريلا ضخمة سبق لها أن أكلت أحد الخدم، وبدأت العصابة فى العمل على إرهاب الورثه،فزناتى(محسن حسنين) يستغل مرآة كبيرة ليبدو للناظرأنه يمشى على السقف،وعتريس(رياض القصبجى)يستعمل حيلة ليبدو أن رأسه منفصلة عن جسده، وأبو سريع (زكى الحرامى) الحارس بالغابه يحضر معه غوريلا ويطلقها للإرهاب،هذا غير الخادم الأخرس جاسر(أحمد البيه)الغامض الشكل والتصرفات. يطلب الجميع من قلب الأسد أن يمسك بالغوريلا، وعندما رآها هرب منها وتعلق بالنجفة التى سقطت به فوق الغوريلا، فجرحت جرحا كبيراً، فقام قلب الأسد بتضميد جراحها فحفظت له الجميل واصبحت صديقته وتدافع عنه. حدث تقارب عاطفى بين شريف وعزيزه على عكس العلاقة التى كانت بين والدته منيره هانم ووالدها حسن،حيث كانوا دائماً فى شجار. وبدأت تظهر أصوات غريبة فى أنحاء القصر،فأفهمهم مراد افندى أنها أصوات أشباح وعفاريت، وبدأت تظهر الأشباح فى الظلام، وعندما شكوا فى مراد افندى وجدوه مقتولاً بخنجر فى ظهره ، ولكن الجثه إختفت بعد قليل. كان مراد أفندى وعصابته يزيفون النقود فى بدروم القصر، واكتشفت عزيزه سرهم، فقام مراد بالقبض عليها وحبسها فى بدروم القصر،وحاول شريف إنقاذها فقبض عليه مراد وحبسه معها،ثم قام جاسر بتحريرهم والذى اكتشفوا انه ضابط بوليس يراقب مراد وعصابته ويسعى للقبض عليهم،وطلب منهم الصمودريثما تحضر قوة البوليس التى اتصل بها. دارت معركة رهيبة بين الورثه وبين أفراد العصابة اشتركت فيها الغوريلا بجانب الورثه وأبلت بلاءا حسنا وفاءاً لجميل قلب الأسد عليها،وجاء البوليس فى النهايه وقبض على مراد وعصابته، وتزوج شريف من عزيزه وتزوج حسن من منيره هانم، وانفردت الغوريلا بمرسى قلب الأسد.
